Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Lulworth & Winfrith Primary School is of the upmost importance.

Lulworth and Winfrith CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as "Designated Child Protection Officers" in school in compliance with the "sharing of information" guidance.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Miss Hardy (Deputy Headteacher and SEND Lead). She is supported by Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Mrs Griffiths (Headteacher), Miss Stopforth and Mr Leeming (Lulworth Site) and Mrs McHarg (Winfrith Site). All members of staff are also trained in responding to safeguarding concerns. We strive to ensure there is always a DSL on site so anyone is able to raise a concern, no matter how big or how small.  Don't think "What if I'm wrong?" but "What if I'm right?" The concerns you have might form part of a bigger picture which could help prevent harm to a young person.  Giving families help at an early stage can help prevent the escalation of safeguarding concerns and we are committed to working with parents/carers and other agencies to do this effectively.

The Prevent Duty guidance (under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015) places a duty on schools to have "due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism."  All staff have received training in this area and this is monitored and updated regularly by the school Governors as part of our safeguarding auditing process.
