  • Community

Our school sites at Winfrith Newburgh and West Lulworth are at the heart of the local community.  We always welcome the opportunities to make links with our local residents and visitors to the area.

    Harvest Festival

Woodpeckers and Robins wrote some Harvest messages to be shared at the Community Lunch in Winfrith Village Hall.  They also drew some pictures, which were much appreciated.  The children were very excited when they received some cards back from their friends in our village.

    Community Pen pals

The children we very excited to receive some replies from their pen pals in the Community and look forward to writing back soon.

    Ukraine Appeal

We have supported collections in the local community with a collection for the people of Ukraine.  The children in Woodpeckers coloured flags and wrote messages for the children of the Ukraine to be displayed in Winfrith Village Stores where a collection point has been set up.

    Happy Easter

We created some Easter pictures and messages for our friends in the local community and made some seed bombs for them to plant wild flowers in their gardens.

    Prayers of Hope

We visited St Chrisstopher's Church and assmebled under the angle to read some prayers of hope we had written for the people in the Ukraine.  We displayed doves we had made in the church as a symbol of love and peace.

    Our Lovely Local Area!

One of our families invited us to their home to pick some apples and meet their alpacas.  We had a lovely walk along the river and enjoyed the beautiful views along the way.  We reflected on the Creation story we have listening to the last week and our wonderful world.

    Ride and Stride

We supported the Historic Church Trust by taking part in the Ride and Stride.  We raised money by taking part in a walk to St Christopher's Church in Winfrith.  The money we raised will help local churches including Holy Trinity in West Lulworth with the repair of their roof.

    Community Pen Pals

We created some Harvest baskets for our friends in the village.  They were delivered to the community lunch and the children enjoyed receiving cards and letters back from our community pen pals.

    Remembrance Sunday

On Remembrance Sunday staff and children represented the school at services at St Christopher's Church in Winfrith and in West Lulwroth.  We were proud to see our children lay poppy wreaths at the memorials.

    Our Coronation Celebration

Today our school community had a wonderful time celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.  We all came in red, white and blue or Royal costumes and KS1 made some fantastic crowns.  We played a Royal pass the parcel and posed for photos in the Royal photo booth.  We then had a picnic lunch in the hall and sampled the Coronation cake!

    Remembrance Day 2023

On Sunday lots of our families attended the Remembrance Services in our local area.  We are proud of our links with the military and it was lovely to see two of our pupils laying a wreath at the memorial in West Lulworth.

    Community Lunch

The local Winfrith Community hold regular lunches for villagers and it is always a popular event.  Our School Council were keen to get involved and prepared a delicious pudding for those attending to enjoy!

    A Big Thank you!

We wanted to say thank you to our wonderful Open the Book team for giving up their time to lead our worship every week.  So, the School Council made some Easter gift bags to present to them at our Easter Service.
